March Is Also National Nutrition Month!
Though this month is mostly known as Women’s History Month, March is also National Nutrition Month. National Nutrition Month is a nutrition education and information campaign sponsored annually by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The campaign is designed to focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. It also recognizes that food preferences, lifestyle, cultural and ethnic traditions, and health concerns all impact individual food choices. Within the America minority community there are many factors that play a role in poor health. This month is about finding affordable ways that people can change their everyday diet to help in their overall health. Trade your soda for water, candy bar for fruit, and ice cream for frozen yogurt! Want to learn about healthy alternatives that will change your quality of life?
