Behind the Scenes of Agency Life: Jobi Does the Research

Jobi Tyson is our Account Planner working in research. She produces creative briefs to ensure campaign ideas and strategies are effective and targeted to the right audience. Here are some insights regarding her role:

1. What is your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part is finding narratives within data and turning research into practical solutions for audience engagement. In addition to identifying new multicultural trends and the challenges that come with developing convincing arguments to defend research.

2. What advice would you give an aspiring research professional?

My advice would be to sometimes take the road less traveled. It may have roots, obstacles and climbs, but the view is worth it. Historically women have not been encouraged to study and/or work in research or data science. Sometimes, it’s not a bad thing to be the only one like you in the crowd – realizing you’re making a pathway for the next woman behind you.

3. What is something you enjoy about working at Matlock?

The wealth of knowledge from my research mentor, Ed Rutland, President of Matlock. The best teachers show you where to look, but don’t tell you what to see.
